Company History...

JAR Motorsport Ltd was founded in 2001 by John Palmowski, who now has over 35 years experience in the Motor Industry. JAR Motorsport was originally the tuning sister company of which began trading in 1998 and catered for mainstream servicing and repairs.

In September 2009, all operations were consolidated into JAR Motorsport Ltd which now, located in new and larger premises, caters for all aspects of motor vehicle repairs, servicing and tuning.

After leaving school, John first worked for his father (Mario Palmowski) helping to run the family business "Central Garage" of Parkgate, Rotherham. During this time, John studied at Rotherham Technical College and gained his City & Guilds qualifications and went on to specialise in Engine and Gearbox rebuilding at Central Garage.

It was during this same era that John supported his father in F1 Stock-Car

Racing. Throughout the subsequent years John built the American

V8 Big Block Engines that powered the No. 383 Stock-Car. This love

for competing in Motorsport and the understanding of how to build an

engine to be reliable in a tough motorsport environment provided

the necessary skills and experience that can be utilised today to benefit

all of our customers.

After moving on from the family business, John next went on to work on

large commerical vehicles before becoming a Depot Enginneer and

Workshop Manager for two multi-national organisations. Next John had

a spell working at two Ford Main Dealers, the latter being a regional

Cosworth Agent where he was the lead Technician and then finally

specialising in the German marques of BMW, Mercedes and VAG.

It was then, in 1998, that John decided it was time to work for himself and

set-up John's Auto Repairs. Starting from modest beginnings in a small workshop in Rawmarsh, the business rapidly expanded and a large, stable customer base was established. This led to acquiring our previous premises on Hillside Court in 2000. It soon became apparent that there was a need to cater for the emerging tuning market in South Yorkshire and in 2001 JAR Motorsport was formed to work alongside and compliment the mainstream servicing arm.

Now, in 2009, JAR Motorsport is a family run business that is further expanding and now resides in new 3000 sq ft premises and is able to offer a true end-to-end service in virtually all aspects of motor vehicle repair, servicing and tuning.
